Wedgwood Majolica Heron Plate - Joseph Théodore Deck – England, c. August 1871

A fine nineteenth-century Wedgwood majolica plate, produced in England circa August 1871, featuring a striking heron motif. The plate is designed with a pierced rim simulating basketweave, a highly decorative and technically accomplished feature characteristic of quality Victorian majolica.

The design is attributed to Joseph Théodore Deck (1823–1891), widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative potters of the nineteenth century, renowned for his contributions to ceramic art and glaze development.

Impressed Wedgwood BHZ mark to the reverse.

Condition:
Excellent overall condition, showing wear consistent with antique age and use, along with light crazing typical of majolica ware. No restoration is evident.
