Antique European Bronze Bacchante & Putto Sculpture – Marble Base – Late 19th / Early 20th Century 36cm

A charming and finely cast antique European bronze cabinet sculpture, depicting a dancing bacchante accompanied by a putto playing pipes, both adorned with wreaths of grapevines, symbolising classical themes of celebration and Bacchic revelry.

This elegant composition captures a wonderful sense of movement and classical artistry, with the bacchante shown in a graceful dancing pose, while the putto adds a playful and musical element to the scene. The figures are well modelled with good detail, reflecting the quality craftsmanship typical of late 19th to early 20th century European bronzes.

The sculpture is mounted on an attractive oval marble base, which complements the piece beautifully and enhances its display appeal. The bronze retains a warm, rich patination, highlighting the detail and giving the piece a pleasing antique character.

Though unmarked, the quality of casting and classical subject matter make this a highly decorative and desirable example of continental bronze sculpture.
