A stylish and beautifully decorated antique French pottery plate marked with a gold Chelsea anchor purporting to be manufactured by the famous Chelsea factory, but possibly made by Edmé Samson of Paris and inspired by an 18th‑century Chelsea porcelain design. Either way, a stunning example, and if by the latter, a very fine example. Dating from around the mid to late 19th century, the plate features a gilded rim and is hand‑painted with an exotic bird standing among a floral landscape. Finished in vibrant coloured glazes with delicate gilding around the rim. Measuring 23.8 cm in diameter. A beautifully decorated example offered in very good condition, with slight wear to gilding around the border.
